It was also a sad day in Major League Baseball. Detroit Tiger phenom, Mark "The Bird" Fidrych,
died today at the age of 54. Fidrych had one good year. That's it. But what a year. He was Rookie of the Year in 1976 and his record was 19-9. He was plain old fun to watch. He'd get down on his knees to fill in the hole on the mound. He'd pace around the mound talking to himself and the ball.
We'll miss you, Mark.

I remember him well.
For one magic year, he was a great pitcher, bringing joy into baseball.
Very sorry to hear this.
Rest in peace.
