LET THE SMEARING BEGIN

With a month left until election day the McCain campaign announced that it's going to step up its attacks on Barack Obama.

From Straight Talk to Smear Talk. Let the smearing begin!

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday slammed Sen. Barack Obama's political relationship with a former anti-war radical, accusing him of associating "with terrorists who targeted their own country."

"Our opponent though, is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."
Palin was referring to an article in the NY Times about Obama's relationship with Ayers.

Palin failed to mention the article
concluded that "the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called 'somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.' "

Several other publications, including the Washington Post, Time magazine, the Chicago Sun-Times, The New Yorker and The National Review, have debunked the idea that Obama and Ayers had a close relationship.
This is an extremely important election and we can't let people get away with out and out lies.

If you know anyone who's on the fence about who to vote for or is considering voting McCain/Palin, pass this post (and more to come) along to them.

Thank God! Someone is finally grilling Obama for his friendships throughout his lifetime. My wife comes from the southeast Asian country of Thailand and says Barak could be the first US president with a Muslim name.

They have to step it up because sadly thats all they have. If they had anything worth talking about, they would spend their time doing that. I was never a McCain supporter and will never be a Palin supporter, but I am from Arizona and USED to have alot of respect for John McCain, not anymore. He has changed in this election and become someone I am not proud to have represent my state. Very sad what they have lowered themselves to. I credible person does not have to belittle another to make themselves look better-see who's doing it and who's not.

We already know that Sarah Palin is a windup doll, able to smile, wink and spout whatever nonsense her handlers give her. Now that it is clear that McCain’s chances of winning this race are dimming, the campaign is pulling out all the stops. And for the Republican right wing, that means playing as dirty as possible. Muddy the waters, make the public think the other guy is the one who’s dirty, can’t be trusted, and we’re the white knight. And Sarah has been anointed to bring this message to the people because we know she is so good at sarcasm, insult and passing on the dirt. This has been her trademark from her unveiling at the Republican convention.

And so Sarah continues the character assassination. This time, Palin has announced that Obama is pals with a terrorist, and if that weren’t bad enough, pals with a terrorist against America! The fact that this fellow committed whatever crimes he committed 40 years ago, when Obama was about 8 years old, and that further Obama is and has never been good friends with him – well, why does truth have to get in the way of Sarah’s attempt to depose Obama from his lead in the polls.

It is somewhat heartening to see that a number of organizations—even some news organizations—are attempting to separate truth from fiction in this election, after falling down on the job in a pitiful manner in the last two elections. Unfortunately some make sure to attempt to be “evenhanded” – you know, one side distorted and the other distorted too. Nonetheless, there are levels of distortion and these have to be examined most carefully.

I am a white 67 yr old women and have never contributed to anyone, but tomorrow I will send Obama a large check. This McCain and Palin are not fit to be in the White House.

Only idiots and the criminally-insane think the public believes anything printed by the New York Times, the Washington Post, Time magazine, the Chicago Sun-Times, and The New Yorker actually "debunks" the idea that Obama and Ayers had a close relationship. They're nothing but screed-riddled rags that are totally in the tank for the stammering empty-suit Obama. Ayers is an anchor around Obama's neck and it'll only get heavier.

So what?

Without someone giving her cue cards with canned answers, she:

-->can't tell us what, if any newspapers she's ever read.

-->can't tell us what Supreme Court decisions besides Roe v. Wade that she disagrees with.

-->can't explain the recent bailout program.

-->doesn't understand foreign policy, other than "I can see Russia from my back yard."

-->lied about her support for "The Bridge to Nowhere."

--> thinks humans and dinosaurs walked the earth together 6000 years ago.

Bimbo is the perfect characterization for her. You betcha.

When I read what Palin said about Obama, her implication that he is a terrorist by association, I feel utter disgust and contempt for her and her party. Apparently McCain believes that people will forgive him for a complete lack of integrity in his approach to this campaign. He should re-think this approach. He will not win, regardless of what he does and he will be remembered for this despicable and reprehensible tactics and any good he has done will be lost in memory to his sad, sad campaign.

John McCain and Sarah Palin, SHAME ON YOU. You do not deserve to be representing anyone in our great nation. Go to your holes, you lying jerks. A not-always-for-obama citizen who is sick of your lying ways

It's amusing when Obama supporters say this is not worth talking about. Wright, Pfleger, Ayers, Resko... does anybody see a pattern here? But they can always use the "taken out of context" excuse.

Do we really care what this psycho is saying about Obama? Shows how desperate she and McCaine are. Pathetic!

What else should we expect from the erstwhile "Maverick" who's sold his soul to the devil (Hannity/Limbaugh and the right-wing nuts).

Looks like in addition to conceding Michigan, McSame has also conceded that he's not going to be able to win the election on issues and that he's perfectly happy with trying to tear Obama down with smear and blatant lies.

That is sad. I just hope that the American public does not fall for the same old right-wing t/crap 3 times in a row.

Sean Hannity is doing a character story Sunday at 9pm on Fox News on Obama. He has a total conservative spin but it may be interesting considering a lot of this story hasn't been completely told in the mainstream media.

Might be interesting to get the right wing spin on this considering the NYT article gave the left wing spin and then we can decide for ourselves what is true and what is embellishment.

My fellow Americans...Why isn't Governor Palin talking about issues? This election will never again be about "Swift Boat" because Americans got the left off the boat...i.e. MASSIVE FORECLOSURES/$480B deficits plus a squandered $200B Clinton surplus plus $700B Wall Street Bailout which = 1.38 TRILLION.

And the real issues are: lack of health care-unemployment-lost jobs-eliminated job positions-predatory lending-mismanagement of the economy-5 day delay in response during Katrina...and a presidential candidate who has voted 90-95% for the failed Bush Administration policies, another Republican named Senator John McCain.

THESE ARE THE ISSUES....remember Americans, it's not black, white or ethnic, IT'S GREEN....YOUR FUTURE/YOUR FAMILY/YOURSELF/YOUR EDUCATION AND YOUR MONEY!!!!

Anonymous said...

This is truly sad. I hope the American people are intelligent enough to trust such candidates. The fact that they would try to make Obama out to be a terrorist-sympathizer is simply disgusting. Absolutely disgusting, and if McCain and Palin had any semblance of honor and pride, they would retract those comments immediately.

So it looks like Sarah is finally going to abandon McCain and is preparing to run in 2012. She has saddled his campaign with a whopper about Obama’s association with Ayers and now they’ll have to spend the next week explaining the lie. Meanwhile Sarah is parting with her “running mate” buy disagreeing with the decision to abandon Michigan as a battleground state. Boy will it be a fun election in 2012 when she is four years older and a few cosmetic surgeries more stretched and trying to sound like Joe Sixpack while looking like Mary Tyler Moore. With her now in the driver’s seat McCain is going to start looking more and more like the 72 years he is.

isn't there a political party in alaska
that hates the united states the her frist dude was a member of?

Anonymous said...

How ridiculous is all of this nonsense!?!? Barack Obama does not hate America, and for the last friggin time, he's NOT A MUSLIM!!! I don't care what his name is, he didn't pick it! Sarah Palin's the one who was a member of an organization dedicated to the secession of Alaska from the US. Who hates America?? But really, the fact is that Obama, while certainly not perfect, is the only viable leader at this point who isn't going to hasten the ruination of our already declining country. The end goal of the terrorists who caused the attacks of 9/11 wasn't to kill a few thousand Americans, it was to light the spark to destroy the American economy, and it's a plan that's worked perfectly. The ensuing "war on terror," the cost of which would have provided health care for every American, repaired every road, bridge and school in America, and started several massive renewable energy projects! The terrorits are not only getting what they wanted, but they actually have duped many Americans, and sadly many American leaders, into thinking that it's America that's winning. We
MUST HAVE CHANGE, and McCain/Palin have no intention of doing anything of the sort.

Anonymous said...

What is awful here is that his relationship with Ayers boils down to serving on the same charitable board with him. A charitable organization that looks to better the education system in Chicago. Somehow, the MacCain/Palin team find a way to twist public service in to hatred of your own country. I thought I'd seen everything.

Anonymous said...

Is the 'thank god' about someone 'finally' (haha, where have you been?) grilling obama about his past friendships meant to be sarcasm? I hope so...The comment also implies that it would be a negative thing to have a President with a Muslim name....wow. I sure hope I misinterpreted that b/c that is truly sad if this is how the poster intended it to be. I am no big fan of Obama, but I think it would be nice if this country actually represented what it and everyone else pretends that it does...we're getting there...

I am not an american. But I am here in the US and has been following the politics and the recent campaign. I watched the VP debate. I saw Palin's interviews and now her comments of obama being "pals" with terrorists. Americans, here is my tip - compare all these candidates with the presidents you had in the past before the 1980s. Does Palin look like one who can hold the oval office? if you think so, you don't have brains and YOU'LL ONE OF THOSE STUPID AMERICANS WHO VOTE FOR YOUR PRESIDENT BECAUSE OF HIS/HER SMILE, LIKEABILITY AND NOT ABILITIES..god save america.. its a pity

Anonymous said...

It's so SAD that people who "devoted" so much in GOD, but telling LIES to others. What a HIPPOCRATE type of animal!!!

And let the 'we've tried talking about issues and that failed, now let's throw mud as hard as we can' has begun. The new GOP (read: CNP) has two basic tactics: distort or lie about your opponent, and if that fails, turn up the volume and try again. Only a fool would fall for the old 'guilt by association' junk...Obama has as much to do with Ayers as McCain has to do with Hensley and Don Bolles, or maybe I'm on to something? The knife can cut both ways.

Anonymous said...

Palin's statements are typical for a party that has run out of any good ideas and plans to get America running smoothly again. When you don't have anything constructive to work on, you resort to petty attacks. Even if it means just pulling fabricated lies out of your butt and hoping enough americans are stupid enough to listen.

Anonymous said...

Benita: I am nauseated by the tactics that Palin has used against Mr. Obama, a U.S. Senator. To say that he or any other U.S. public servant actually hates America is unconscionable. Sarah, not only did you just make our party's polls drop, you just ruined your chances of ever running for any office in Washington again. Shame on you. - A Conservative voter

You have to love October, the leaves start to change, and so do the Republicans. Once again, old lies reappear and are told with profound importance and an air of discovery. And Evita Palin has already proven she has no issues with repeating lies over and over with a resounding "ya betcha!"

McCain has surrendered to this routine of lies and smear, that is hardly a maverick, that is a sheep being controlled by the extreme right. McCain continues to fumble and make erratic decisions, this is not what I want to see in a president. McCain's antics blew a trillion dollars in one day out of the stock market, and hurt my 401k plans for years to come, that is change I can't believe in.

I know the extreme right will once again lie to try to win, but third time is not the charm.

All I KNOW is what I have SEEN and what I have HEARD.

John McCain in photos next to his A4, in a POW bed fairly patched up, and him in various public forums all crippled and such.

I HAVE seen Barak Hussein Obama in traditional Muslim attire. I HAVE heard Barak Hussein Obama deny his Muslim ties and claim his Christian ties.

Comparing the headresses: McCain with a fighter pilot helmet and Obama with a turbin. The choice isn't too hard now, especially if both are poor choices.

Think of who the non Americans want to win. Think of how many foreigners want America to fail. More non-Americans want Barak Hussein Obama to win than do McCain. I wonder why?

Since Governor Palin has now acknowledged that the New York Times is the paper of record, perhaps she would care to comment on her feelings about her running mate being inextricably tied to gambling industry interests.

Specifically, what might she have to say about the appearance of impropriety in the spectacle of a presidential candidate who has a history of significant interactions and contributions from the gambling industry compulsively marching into casinos to play and their craps tables against the urgings of his aides. Is that what being a 'Maverick' means? What about the appearance that if McCain wins thousands (as in the NY Times article) he courts the appearance of being paid off. Also, does he file forms for all his big winnings and losings? Or, because he owns 8 homes and is married to a wife worth 100s of millions does he not file in the belief that winning or losing tens of thousands of dollars gaming is not 'significant' earnings or losses?

Does John Mc Cain and Sarah Palin really want to take the gloves off. I suspect not as senator John and plenty of skeletons in his cupboard. His links to Duke Tully, involvement and investigation with the 'Keating 5" and the Saving and loans scandal (funny how history repeats)not to mind his treatment of POW families and friendship of Vietnamese generals and dubious claims not to mention his clear violation of basic rules of conduct for military officers when captured. Much more worrying!

How low can a party sink to come out with this kind of crap?
Wouldn't it be nice if the media was to filter out all these negative ads and comments from both parties and deal with only the positive facts.
Is the media so desperate for readers and viewers that they have to add legitimacy to these absurd comments by printing them?
As for the candidates I say if you can't run on your own laurels then drop out and find someone in the party that can.

Well I guess because Palin is sleeping with the moose up there where she comes from and is in with Alaska CROOKS she has to throw people off by smearing OBAMA!I find it so wonderful how people have to smear others to get what they want. I think Palin and Mccain should be worried about talking on what they are going to do to chane the country and not worry about running their mouths off about child play! These 2 are so stupid. And Obama has a nice family and nice children and I think he will not do anything to this country that could hurt his family as well as our families. SO breath easy people and hope that OBAMA wins! If I did not know who I was going to vote for then I sure would know now, OBAMA!

This makes me so outraged. This type of attack just should not be allowed and they should be penalized for this through campaign contributions. Somehow, I wish that was possible. Secondly, I do believe the journalists and news groups should not report on this. I implore all news channels and journalists to stop reporting on such comments. Let it die. Just walk away - you will not lose viewership - you will gain our respect.

McPain and Palin should be ashamed of themselves for stooping to a new all time low. Others are correct when they say they cannot answer questions. 95% of the questions given to Palin during the debate were not answered and anyone that states she did a good job must be talking about the job of dodging the answer. Once or twice Biden even mentioned she avoided the question.

I will cry on election day. Tears of great happiness when Obama/Biden are voted in. It will be a great day in America. We will then begin a new road. Obama will lift this nation and we will become the "most respected nation on earth" once more!!

Lets talk about McCains' buddies, shall we? Keating, anyone? S&L scandal that wiped out folk's saving so McCain could make his cronies happy in DC? @ $180 billion, I think, it cost us American taxpayers in the end.

I'll take Obama sitting on a education board with a guy who contemplated aggressive protests of the Vietnam War when Obama was EIGHT YEARS OLD over McCain's very mature decision to hobnob with crooks and thieves and steal from the American people. How are people forgetting McCain was in the Keating Five?

How about his flip-flopping on torture? "His back-and-forth record on the Bush tax cuts, the estate tax, waterboarding, hunting down terrorists in Pakistan, kicking Russia out of the G-8, a surge of troops into Afghanistan, the GI Bill, storing nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain, teaching intelligent design, fully funding No Child Left Behind, offshore drilling, his own immigration policy and withdrawal timelines for Iraq."

What about the fact that in "...June of this year, McCain reversed his decades-long opposition to coastal drilling — shortly before cashing $28,500 from 13 donors linked to Hess Oil. And the senator, who only a decade ago tried to ban registered lobbyists from working on political campaigns, now deploys 170 lobbyists in key positions as fundraisers and advisers."

Quotes from Rolling Stone article to be published 10/16. The Real McCain is pretty exposed by his former staffers, fellow servicemen, etc. Too bad that bulldog Palin's not on Obama's team...she'd had a field day with all the TRUE info @ McCain.

Actually, Obama has a shred of moral fiber so Palin wouldn't fit in...Obama would prob. cut her from his team in a sec if she tried to hit below the belt...I think Obama's integrity is really starting to shine now. He has so much ammo on these two freaks and has not played their game at all.
